Haridwar is a very famous pilgrim centre. Haridwar, the holy city situated on the foothills of the Great Mountain Himalayas along the bank of river Ganga. It is also famous as Ganga Dwar because the holy river Ganga enters the plain here. It is one of the seven holy sites and a dip in the Ganga that flows beside the holy city is believed to wash away mortal sins and cleanse the mind, body and soul.
